Twenty-five women who have been nominated by their employers will be honored Thursday when Tribute to Women In Industry celebrates its 24th anniversary at the annual banquet at the Holiday Inn.

TWIN honorees are women who have made significant contributions and achieved responsible positions in managerial, executive or professional roles in industry, social services, education and not-for-profit organizations.

Peggy Harrison and Willa King, co-chairwomen of 2008 TWIN, announced that in addition to the honorees, special awards will be given: the Athena Award, the JoAnn Dutton Community Volunteer Award and the Corporate Achievement Award.

TWIN provides financial support for women’s and children’s programs at the Mansfield Area Y. Since 1985, area employers have honored more than 600 women employees through TWIN.

Dana Constance, Administrative Assistant for the First Presbyterian Church, is responsible for all Church publications and assembly, coordinates meetings, clerk of session and the leadership body.

Her employer says, “Dana is the glue that holds all Church and related activities together. She does this with grace, love and much finesse along with superb professionalism. She is the go to person as well as the answer person. Her pay would never compensate for the total number of devoted extra hours she gives to her job!”

A graduate of Mansfield Senior High, Dana is a Fellow in the Presbyterian Church Administration Personnel Associate. Dana is involved in all community and volunteer activities that revolve around the Church. She is a table parent for Wednesday “Prime Time” and is involved in all extracurricular Church activities.

Dana has been an employee of the First Presbyterian Church for 14 years. She reports to Rev. Dennis R. Allison.

Sharon Courson

As Major/National Accounts Coordinator at the News Journal, Sharon Courson coordinates all major and national advertising for the Newspaper Network of Central Ohio. Sharon is responsible for the timely and accurate execution of nearly $9.4 million dollars in advertising business. This business is placed in 10 daily, 3 weekly and 10 total market publications across Ohio, including the News Journal.

Sharon is well known among many large retail, manufacturing and service organizations across the country because of her excellent customer service skills, product knowledge and attention to detail. Her dedication to both the customer and the company has helped the major/national advertising department of NNCO consistently achieve its budgeted revenue goals and kept credit costs to a minimum.

Sharon is a graduate of Madison Comprehensive High School.

Sharon has been employed with the News Journal for 4_ years and reports to Scott Miller.

Carrie Diener

Carrie Diener serves as an Assistant Supervisor in the Metal and Molding Fabrication Departments at Therm-O-Disc, Inc. Her responsibilities include developing work schedules to achieve effective utilization of available resources in her work areas, anticipating production problems and coordinating procedures of offset them, and attaining shift objectives for continuous improvement in product quality, scrap containment, cost and delivery of fabricated parts.

Her employer says, “In addition to the respect of her employees, Carrie has the loyalty, heart and drive to succeed in the manufacturing environment.”

A graduate of Lucas High School, Carrie has attended numerous training workshops, including Emerson Communicative Supervisor, First Aid & CPR, Emerson Communicative Safety and various Lean Machine classes.

Carrie has employed with Therm-O-Disc for 27 years and in her present position for the past 9 years. Carrie reports to Terry Brown.

Robin Estepp

As Materials & Customer Service Manager for Rable Machine, Robin Estepp is responsible for all interface with customers and the complete scheduling/demand system. She has streamlined the department managing to keep up with 50% growth of the business without additional personnel. Robin has been instrumental in reorganizing the scheduling system around Lean manufacturing cells which drive decision making lower and lower in the organization.

“The bottom line is that Robin has been a key leader and contributor to Rable’s record growth and success and we look forward to many more years of her leadership and inspirational personality,” says her employer.

Robin is a graduate of Cloverleaf High School and has APEX training in MRP Management Systems, has taken die design courses and lean manufacturing classes from the University of Michigan.

Robin has been with Rable Machine for 2_ years. She reports to Scott Carter.

Nikia Fletcher

Nikia Fletcher is the Director of Admissions and Enrollment Services at North Central State College. As such she is responsible for all aspects of the North Central State College’s admissions program including enrollment development and student recruitment. Nikia also oversees the student ambassador program, College for a Day, Summer Youth Explosion programs and services on several task force groups including the national Achieve the Dream initiative, continuous improvement and accreditation and the Enrollment Development Team.

Her employer says, “Nikia inspires those with whom she interacts and is considered a just supervisor, caring mentor and effective motivator. She is fair and balanced and one of the hardest working, smartest persons I have ever worked with!”

A graduate of Mansfield Senior High, Nikia has a Bachelor of Science Degree in Industrial Management from the University of Akron and she is currently pursuing a Master of Business Administration at Ashland University.

Nikia has been employed with North Central State College for 6 years and reports to Betty Wells.

Patricia L. Hamilton

As Indirect Lending Administrative Assistant at Sutton Bank, Patricia Hamilton provides administrative support to the Indirect Lending department as well as Mansfield Commercial Lending. She is the contact for all customers where she assists them in all types of matters. She maintains all departmental records, collects payments and processes loans. Patricia uses sound judgment to assist in making lending decisions based on analysis of loan packet. She also makes joint calls to auto dealerships.

Patricia is a graduate of Bentleyville-Ellsworth Area Joint High School. Patricia has taken the following courses: American Institute Banking, Law & Banking Applications, Accounting Principles, Law & Banking Principles, Banking Proofreading Written Work, and Word Perfect.

She was a 4-H Advisor for three years and is currently the Finance Chair, Vice President of United Methodist Women, Church Secretary and Lay Speaker at her Church where she also sings in the choir.

Patricia has been an employee of Sutton Bank for 9_ years. She reports to John Gurney.

Barbara J. Harmon

Barbara Harmon is the Senior Draftsperson at MKC Associates, Inc. In her position, Barbara prepares clear, complete and accurate working plans and detail drawings from rough or detailed sketches or notes in 2D and/or 3D format.

Her employer says, “Barbara is in constant roles of trainer, organizer and ‘go-to’ person. She heads up our CAD training in the Engineering Department, sets up and controls our internal standards and is instrumental in the filing, organizing and archiving of our projects electronically.”

A graduate of Madison Comprehensive High School, Barbara has AutoDesk/AutoCAD training. She is the Mid-Ohio Harley Owners Group Editor.

Barbara has been employed with MKC Associates for 18 years and in her current position for the past 8 years. She reports to Craig G. Christie.

Denise Haynes

As Assistant Vice-President, Planning/Process Improvement, Chief Compliance Officer at MedCentral Health Systems, Denise Haynes leads the MedCentral Health System strategic planning process and facilitates the implementation. She coordinates compliance and internal audit programs to ensure MedCentral is ethical in its business practices and is in compliance with all Federal, State and Local laws, rules and regulations governing the health care industry.

Denise implemented a system-wide Corporate Compliance Program and has led MedCentral in its pursuit of Med Central’s Malcolm Baldrige National Quality Award. Denise is on the Board of Examiners and volunteers for this Program.

Denise has a BSN from the Ohio State University, a MSN and MBA from Kent State University. Her advanced training includes CCRN (American Association of Critical Care Nursing), Basic Life Support & Instructor/Trainer (American Heart Association), Certified Case Manager (Case Management & Certificate Corp.), Lean/Sigma Black Belt (American Society for Quality).

Denise has been an employee of MedCentral Health System for 6 years. She reports to Michael Patterson.

Geneva Hodo

Geneva Hodo is the Head Preschool Teacher at the Mansfield Area Y. She is responsible for implementing appropriate activities in which children can grow and be successful. She provides an active role in teaching and fostering positive self-esteem in the children. Geneva is also responsible for maintaining daily and weekly recordkeeping that is required by the State.

Her employer says, “Geneva is one of the most caring, compassionate childcare teachers the Y has ever had. She comes to work every day brimming with energy and enthusiasm and desire to work with every child she comes in contact with. There is always a smile on her face and a warm spot in her heart for the children, the Y and the community she gives so much back to.”

A graduate of Malabar High School, Geneva volunteers at Mansfield City Schools in her son’s class when needed.

Geneva has been employed at the Mansfield Area Y for 10 years and in her current position for the past 7 years. She reports to Velma Bond.

Dody L. Jeremy

As Communications Manager at General Motors - Mansfield Plant, Dody Jeremy is responsible for the execution of the internal communication processes. She develops content and implements effective two-way facility-wide communications system. Dody advises and counsels leadership on communication initiatives to support local business objectives. She provides leadership with communication services including presentation and speech material, videos, media relations and community relations support. She also builds alliances and partners with other functions to improve the business culture of the organization.

Dody’s employer reports, “Dody has effectively managed the communications function at the plant and supported numerous joint activities such as Family Day, trade shows, United Way, People Make Quality Happen, Support Our Troops, special attrition programs, community service, car shows, employee recognition, Quality Hall of Fame, state of the business meetings, PMN activities and the Mansfield Plant 50% anniversary event. She was instrumental in improving plant communications scorecard metric by over 10%. Dody led the charge successfully implementing Workplace Organization plant-wide. She also designed and implemented a problem-solving process and incorporated it into GMS team training.”

Dody is a graduate of Lexington High School and received her Bachelor’s in Business Management from George Mason University. She is active with the Rehab Telethon, March of Dimes, Care & Share and the Ontario Growth Association.

Dody has employed at General Motors for 17 years and in her present position for 1_ years. She reports to Don Wine and Shawn Davis.

Brenda Leeman

Brenda Leeman is President and CEO of Integrated Business Solutions. In her position, Brenda directs her employees in the preparation of payroll, bookkeeping and tax services for her clients. Brenda also assists other business owners with filing the proper papers and the various other decisions that should be made prior to starting up a business.

Brenda started her business eight years ago and currently has eight employees. Growth in clients and services can be attributed to Brenda’s expertise in accounting and payroll services. She has been able to provide these services to those who might lack the financial knowledge and to those who may not have the time that is necessary to dedicate to these areas.

Brenda is a graduate of Arsenal Technical High and has a BS in accounting from Ball State University. She is a member of the American Payroll Association, National Association of Tax Professionals, American Institute of Professional Bookkeepers and the Mansfield-Richland Area Chamber of Commerce. Her community and volunteer activities include: Girl Scouts, Galion Aviation Programs, Habitat for Humanity and she supports and has taught classes for the Mansfield Richland County Incubator.

Susan M. Love

As Director of Children’s Ministries at the First Presbyterian Church, Susan Love administers every aspect of young children’s activities in the Church from Sunday school classes to mid-week “Prime-Time.) She organizes children workshops throughout the year and nearly every Sunday conducts the “Children’s Moments” during worship. She plans tactile activities that pique the children’s interest and keep their attention.

Her employer states, “With Sue’s guidance and direction, First Presbyterian Church is fortunate to have a large and active youth ministry. Her hours exceed far beyond her pay. She is truly dedicated to instilling Christian qualities in the young people of the Church and does this all with a lively zest and zeal in a Christ-Like attitude. She is always in search of innovative ideas and projects that keep the children coming back.”

Susan is a graduate of Lakewood High School and was formerly a licensed x-ray tech. She was a parent volunteer when her children were in school and has numerous extracurricular Church duties.

Susan has been an employee of the First Presbyterian Church for 18 years and reports to Rev. Dennis R. Allison.

Beth Malaska

Beth Malaska is a Branch Manager with Richland Bank. In her position she is responsible for all aspects of branch management including: new business development, growing loan and deposit market share, branch security and educating, training and coaching branch associates.

Her employer noted, “Beth has contributed to the success of Richland Bank in many ways. Whether as a high performing banking center manager or a leader of various committees, Beth’s passion and commitment are evident in everything she participates in. Further supporting her high level of expertise, Beth was recently selected a one of only 12 Master Trainers for Richland Bank’s corporation. This additional responsibility will offer her the chance to travel throughout the state of Ohio and train associates on a new teller and new account operating system.”

Beth is a graduate of St. Peter’s High School, North Central State College and the Harry Blythe School of Banking, and has completed the Richland Bank’s Retail Associate Program. She is involved with the Pat Cracker Breast Awareness and United Way. She is a recipient of the Richland Bank Pinnacle Award.

Beth has been an employee of Richland Bank for 5 years and in her current position for 16 months. She reports to Jeff Parton.

Carmen Morrison

Carmen Morrison is an Assistant Professor in the Computer Information Systems (CIS) Department of the Technology and Workforce Division at North Central State College. Carmen was instrumental in the development and delivery of the first web-enhanced courses offered by the College and was the driving force behind the design and creation of a computer assessment tool that is now administered to all new students. Carmen is passionate about her career field, the students and her professional growth. She looks for opportunities that will expand the CIS program and the College’s use of technology and the intellectual growth of the students.

Her employer states, “Carmen’s energy and excitement are contagious. Everyone strives a little harder to match Carmen’s exuberance. She sets the example for others to follow and is a strong asset to North Central State College and the communities they serve.”

Carmen is a graduate of Logan Elm High School and has a BS in Computer Information Systems from DeVry University. She received the NCSC Faculty Member of the Year Award in 2007, the Phi Theta Kappa Faculty Member of the Year Award and is very active in community projects and children’s programs at her Church.

Carmen has been employed at North Central State College for 13 years and in her present position for the past 8 years. She reports to Terry Coleman.

Kim Ransdell

As Hematology/Oncology Nurse Manager, Kim Ransdell manages a staff of 18 registered nurses, licensed practical nurses, medical assistants, laboratory technician and front office staff. She ensures that the facility is up to date with all medical protocols.

Her employer stated, “Kim is a wonderfully caring and giving person. She is constantly teaching fellow employees of the changes in the field of Hematology/Oncology. She is a strong patient advocate, going to bat for them. Kim has given many educational talks to various organizations and clubs in Richland County.”

Kim graduated from Malabar High School and received her Bachelor of Science degree in Nursing from Capital University. She is nationally certified in oncology nursing. Kim is a founding member and current President of the Mansfield Area Oncology Nursing Society and a member of the National Oncology Nursing Society. She is involved with the American Cancer Society Relay for Life and currently serves on the Hospice Advisory Board.

Kim has been an employee of Ohio Cancer Specialists for 27_ years and reports to Drs. Dewald, Das & Kahn.

Jeanne C. Peters

Jeanne Peters is an Assistant Vice President, Mortgage/Consumer Loans with the Mechanics Savings Bank, Madison Branch. In her position, Jeanne manages a variety of loan requests from our community and services all aspects of their lending needs from application to closing.

Her excellent customer service skills are reflected in the numerous letters of recognition from her very satisfied borrowers and deposit customers. She is an outstanding role model and is admired by her coworkers for her unending spirit of helpfulness.

Jeanne is active with the Mansfield Board of Realtors, the Professional Realtor Organization and the Building Industry Association. She is a lifelong Mansfield resident, a graduate of Madison High School and has attended numerous banking classes and seminars. Jeanne serves on the Policy Council of NCSC/OSU-Mansfield Child Development Center.

Jeanne has been an employee of Mechanics Savings Bank for 29 years and in her current position for 4 years. She reports to Deborah Adams.

Dollie Schultz

As Owner/Operator of BumbleBee Yarns, Dollie Schultz is responsible for managing the day-to-day operations; class and event development; fiscal administration; marketing; customer relations; personnel; inventory control and purchasing. She developed and launched an ecommerce site to increase sales and customer base.

Dollie strives to maintain an environment that is creative, inspiring and relaxing. She offers a variety of classes to assist fiber enthusiasts in learning new skills and/or enhancing their current skill set. She makes customer service a priority and is always happy to assist with a project. The yarn shop is an inviting space that welcomes it’s customers to come and knit, share, create and foster relationships.

As part of its ongoing commitment to the community, BumbleBee Yarns hosts a monthly charity event/project. For each event the shop features a project to knit or crochet that will be donated to a local non-profit organization.

Dollie has been employed with BumbleBee Yarns for 6 years and in her current position for the past 3 years.

Lisa Ann Smith

Lisa Ann Smith serves as Trustee for UAW, Local 549. As one of three Trustees, Lisa’s responsibilities include: supervise all funds and property of the local union, audit the records of the local union financial officers semi-annually and forward a copy of the audit to the International Union. She is currently the Recording Secretary for the local Community Action Program (CAP) and a member of the local Women’s Committee, Community Service Committee and Organizing Committee. Lisa is currently employed by General Motors as a Journeyperson Die Maker and also holds a Union appointed position as a Process Control Technician.

Lisa’s community and volunteer activities include United Way Care and Share golf outing and the Rehab Center Telethon.

Lisa is a graduate of Ontario High School and has been employed with the UAW, Local 549 for 8 years and been in her current position for the past 3 years. Lisa reports to Pamela Drake.

Linda S. Stevens

As Manager of technical projects and programs for the Engineering Systems Product Support group of Embarq’s Network Services Division, Linda Stevens oversees a team designing, deploying, supporting and sustaining systems for Embarq, nationally, that collect critical performance data from network elements; devices directly providing voice and data services to paying customers.

Linda routinely provides project management leadership, handles sensitive contract negotiations, manages both customer as well as vendor relationships, while overseeing full system life cycle processes and change management. She believes managing is more than delegating, taking an active role in most work activities of the team and believes a manager’s job should be to actively seek out roadblocks and obstacles to progress, then work to remove them for the team.

Linda is a graduate of Madison High School and has received her ABA from North Central State College and her Bachelors in Business Management and Masters in Business Management from Ashland University. She volunteered 300 hours during 2007 to Mansfield Memorial Homes, mentors adult education GED candidates at Pioneer Joint Vocational School, is a past advisor to Richland County Junior Achievement and is a previous member of Embarq’s Action Committee planning community events.

Linda has been an Embaq employee for 30 years and in her current position for two years. She reports to Steven Bochnak.

Bonnie Thomas

Bonnie Thomas is the Administrative & Public Relations Coordinator for the Richland Soil & Water Conservation District. In her position, Bonnie is responsible for keeping all financial records including purchase orders, warrants, budgeting and balancing accounts. It is also her responsibility to insure the district meets state auditor’s standards.

Her supervisor said, “Bonnie has a positive, outgoing personality that is contagious to associates around her. She is dependable, works as a team player when office is short staffed. She has added a higher level of professionalism to the district and improved interoffice communications.”

Bonnie has completed the Ohio Department Natural Resources Administrative Assistant Development Program.

Bonnie has been employed with the Richland Soil & Water Conservation District for 5 years. She reports to John Hildreth.

Patricia A. Stockman

As the Division Controller for Therm-O-Disc, Patricia Stockman is responsible for managing the consolidation, preparation, analysis and reporting of the consolidated financial results for Therm-O-Disc’s domestic plants and foreign affiliates each month. In addition she oversees preparation of other related planning cycle requirements for internal management and Emerson Corporate use.

Patricia has a Bachelor’s of Science degree in Accounting from Robert Morris University, and has attended numerous training workshops, including Emerson Communicative Manager, Hyperion Financial Reporting, Perf(x) and Lean Manufacturing and financial topics. Her years of diverse experience have allowed her to provide hands on analysis, finance operations support and development world wide.

Patricia currently volunteers in various aspects for her Condo Association, is a member of the Mansfield Y, is involved in Big Brothers/Big Sisters, Junior Achievement and March of Dimes.

Pat has been an employee at Therm-O-Disc for 30 years and has been in her current position for 3_ years. She reports to Ralph Shaw.

Dawn M. Thornsberry

Dawn Thornsberry is the Financial Administrative Assistant for Rinehart-Walters-Danner & Associates. In her position, Dawn is the bookkeeper managing all functions of Rinehart’s accounting system.

Her employer said, “Dawn has developed practices and procedures to manage revenue posting and expense payments that have allowed us to be very confident these activities are being managed on a timely basis.

Dawn graduated from Plymouth High School and received an Associates Degree in Accounting from North Central State College. She has taken advanced training in insurance accounting. Dawn is a member and the treasurer of the Johnny Appleseed Baseball Club.

Dawn has been employed with Rinehart-Watlers-Danner & Company for 10 years. She reports to Fred Mellick.

Wanda Yellen

As Volunteer Coordinator for the Mansfield Art Center, it is Wanda Yellen’s responsibility to coordinate, schedule and manage all volunteers within the organization; greet and engage customers; possess a working knowledge of artists and inventory.

Wanda’s Supervisor stated, “Wanda has been an invaluable asset to the Art Center and the Community. She has been a volunteer for most of the Art Center’s life. She brings to the Art Center her most devout love for the organization and its mission and an heir of style and class that is simply unforgettable.

Wanda is a graduate of Mt. Gilead High School. She sponsors the annual May Show award for the Best in Show.

Wanda has been involved with the Mansfield Art Center for 30 years and in her current position for the past 12 years. She reports to S. Paul Kemerling.

Michele Webb

Michele Web is one of two Captains’ with the Mansfield Division of Police and currently serves as the Commander of the Special Operations Bureau.

Michele commits herself in working to maintain a cooperative relationship between the Special Operations Bureau and Community Services Bureau, all uniform officers including the Traffic Section.

Michele regularly performs well above the bar and when the need arises she can be depended upon to take a leadership role in problem solving and resource allocation. Chief Messer noted, “Michele has done an outstanding job in helping to improve service to our residents, while utilizing members of the Police/Community Relations Committee to solicit valuable input on how to make police operations as transparent as possible.

Michele graduated from Mt. Vernon Nazarene University with a Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration and also recently graduated from the Police Executive Leadership College. Michele was Supervisor of the Year in 2007 and has received several letters of merit and commendations.

Captain Web has been a member of the Mansfield Division of Police for 19 years and in her present position for 3 years. She reports to Chief Phil Messer.

Yessica Yahney

As KeyCenter Manager for KeyBank on Ashland Road, Jessica Yahney is responsible for all aspects of branch operations. Her duties include insuring that all branch personnel are appropriately trained and that they adhere to all rules, regulations, policies and procedures. In addition, Jessica serves as the public face for her branch and is responsible for community involvement on behalf of the bank. She is also responsible for crafting and executing a business development strategy for the branch; the purpose of which is to expand existing customer relationships and prospecting for new ones.

Her employer stated, “Jessica has made a tremendous impact on KeyBank in a short period of time. She is an outstanding ambassador for KeyBank in her commitment to helping out in her community.”

Jessica graduated from Ashland High School and has special training in Ohio Life & Health Insurance. She is involved with the Chamber of Commerce.
